26 Rafael-M aircraft, INS Vikrant will be posted on Vikrant

Today, a historic defense deal of about 63 thousand crore rupees will be signed between India and France. Under this agreement, India will buy 26 Rafale-Mine (Rafale-M) fighter aircraft. This important agreement will be signed by the Defense Minister of the two countries virtually. Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and French Ambassador to India Thiery Mathu will preside over the ceremony. Rafael aircraft will be deployed on INS Vikrant

Earlier the French Defense Minister was to personally attend the event, but he had to cancel the journey due to personal reasons. The deal was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Indian Security Affairs on 9 April. These aircraft will be deployed on INS Vikrant, an Indian Navy aircraft carrier. Current MIG-29K aircraft are facing technical and maintenance problems, so Rafael M aircraft are considered immediately necessary.

Rafael M Jet will be particularly optimized according to the requirements of the Indian Navy. These aircraft will be an important interim option for the Indian Navy until the development of indigenous fighter aircraft is completed.

The deal includes 22 single-seater and 4 twin-seater jet

Under this government-to-government agreement, India will buy a total of 26 aircraft, including 22 single-seater and 4 twin-seater fighter aircraft. Apart from the supply of aircraft, the deal includes comprehensive arrangements to help in the process of maintenance, logistic support, training and indigenization.

A total of 62 Rafael aircraft fleet

After this agreement, the total number of Rafale aircraft in India will be 62. Earlier, India bought 36 Rafale aircraft from France in 2016, operating in the Indian Air Force from Ambala and Hasimara Airbase. The new deal will strengthen the Indian defense capacity, which will lead to a significant increase in the country’s military capacity.
