New Delhi, Bureau.The picture of the elections to be held for the upper house of the country i.e. Rajya Sabha is now clear. In this ongoing election process for 37 seats in 10 states, 26 candidates have been declared elected unopposed after the withdrawal of nominations. These include big names like Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale and veteran Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi. After unopposed selection in seven states, the contest has now been reduced to only 11 seats, for which voting will be held on March 16.

Tough contest in Bihar, Haryana and Odisha, fear of ‘cross voting’

BJP deployed ‘veteran’ observers, election blockade intensified

BJP has prepared its strategy to win these important seats of Rajya Sabha. Party president has appointed central observers for Bihar, Haryana and Odisha:

Bihar: Union Minister Harsh Malhotra and Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Vijay Sharma have been given the responsibility.

Haryana: Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi will lead the charge.

Odisha: Maharashtra’s prominent leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule has been made an observer.

Veteran of Bihar politics and longest serving Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Along with him, BJP’s Nitin Naveen also has a strong possibility of reaching Rajya Sabha. The NDA alliance is also expecting support from parties like AIMIM and BSP, due to which their numerical strength seems to be overwhelming.
