New Delhi: 28 new vehicles are going to be launched during the year 2025, out of which 18 will be electric. It is a major jump from the 4-5 electric vehicle model launched every year in the last two years. Additionally, this figure will cross the number of 11 and 15 new vehicles (both EV and internal combustion engines) launched in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
Analysts estimate that zero-furnace vehicles will be increased the main reason for the growth of the auto sector. This year, the share of these vehicles in the total sales will be halved by adding 2,00,000 units to the passenger vehicle market.
Auto experts say that the launch of such a large number of electric vehicles may increase the interest of consumers in them. As a result, electric vehicle access can increase from 2% to 4%. At present, all manufacturers are focusing on increasing the electric vehicle market in India.
To remove consumers’ concerns and buy more electric vehicles, Maruti Suzuki is planning to set up a fast-beaching station every 5-10 km in the top 100 cities before its first electric vehicle launch in the next financial year. Given the size of the Indian market, there will be a major increase in sales of electric vehicles in the near future. The government will play a low GST rate of 5% and the introduction of new products by several OEMs.
According to the report, India’s electric vehicle market is expected to reach 9,32,000 units from 43% CAGR by 2030. 61% of that demand will be for electric SUVs. In 2024, EV sales were only 1,07,000 units compared to about 43 million cars (including sedans and SUVs) sold across the country.
