Post

Good news for the people of Meerut! To facilitate the traffic of the city, the Uttar Pradesh government is going to construct a two-lane elevated road from Begumpul to Jailchungi. The main objective of this project is to get rid of the severe jam in the inner parts of the city, so that traffic can be easier and saved people’s precious time.

Project Description:

Total cost: This ambitious project is estimated to cost around Rs 264 crore.
Total Length: This elevated road will be 3012 meters, ie about 3 kilometers long.
Form: It will be a two-lane road, designed to improve traffic flow.

Survey work completed, now preparations to submit the report to the commissioner:

All survey works related to this project have been successfully completed. A six -member team formed for inspection, including the Public Works Department (PWD), Municipal Corporation and State Setu Nigam, will now submit their detailed report to the commissioner. After this, the process of construction work of the project will proceed.

What will be the new road route and connectivity?

It will start from Elevated Road Begumpul and go directly to Jail Chilli via Abunala and Victoria Park. With the construction of this new road, many major areas of Meerut will be directly connected. With this, traffic from areas like Fort Parikshitgarh, Mawana, Meerut University, Saket, Pandav Nagar and Commissionerate intersection will be very fast.

An important challenge: Pillars will be made on drains, considering alternative drainage required

However, a major challenge related to this project has also come up. The pillars that will be constructed for the road will be built on both existing drains and roads, which will have a diameter of 2.75 meters. Due to this, the normal water flow of drains is expected to be obstructed. Therefore, it would be necessary to seriously consider the system of alternative drainage before starting work on the project, so that waterlogging does not arise.
