News India Live, Digital Desk: Youth Revolution in Nepal: What happened in Nepal was not just a political change, but a volcano of frozen anger for decades. The fall of KP Sharma Oli’s government is proof that when the younger generation of the country wakes up, the most powerful power is also shaken. These youth, known as ‘Jane-G’, challenged and succeeded the political system of the entire country without any big leader.
Let us understand those five major reasons, which laid the foundation of this historic mass movement in Nepal.
1. Ban on social media: last nail
There is an immediate reason behind every major movement, and this is the reason for the government to ban social media in Nepal. KP Sharma Oli’s government stopped 26 social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, on September 4, 2025, saying that they were not following the rules. But the youth saw it as a direct attempt to suppress their voice, this was the biggest way to talk on issues like corruption, unemployment and extravagance of leaders, and as soon as it was snatched away, the patience of the youth broke and they took to the streets.
2. Deep roots of corruption
Corruption in Nepal had become a problem from which every common citizen, especially young, was upset. He felt that in government offices, from small work to big schemes, bribery and nepotism dominate everywhere, the anger was increasing among the youth that the tax they pay, it is being used, not in the development of the country, but in the pockets of leaders, the desire to change this rotten system was at the root of this movement.
3. Life of ‘Napo Kids’ life
In provoking the fire of this movement, ‘Napo Kids’ (children of leaders) served as ghee in the fire. On the one hand, the youth of the country was wandering from rate to rate for jobs, on the other hand, children of politicians were showing their expensive vehicles, luxurious parties and pictures of foreign visits on social media.[ThesepicturescreatedasenseofdeepinequalityandangerinthemindsoftheyouthHestartedtoseeitclearthatthisleaderandhisfamiliesaredoingashonthehardearnedmoneyofthegeneralpublic[इनतस्वीरोंनेयुवाओंकेमनमेंगहरीअसमानताऔरगुस्सेकीभावनापैदाकी।उन्हेंसाफदिखनेलगाकियहनेताऔरउनकेपरिवारआमजनताकीमेहनतकीकमाईपरऐशकररहेहैं
4. Unemployment and dark future
Youth unemployment is a serious problem in Nepal, which is more than 20%, despite good education and degrees, the youth did not have job opportunities, due to which millions of youth have to go abroad in search of work, they did not see any hope for their future in the policies of the government, which had given deep frustration and resentment within them. ,[
5. Decades of political instability
Nepal has been facing political instability for a long time. Governments continue to form and fall here, but the problems of the common man remains the same. The same face was tired of seeing the same face repeatedly, the youth started feeling that the whole political system has failed and now there is no other way but there is no other way than to raise their voice.
All these reasons together gave birth to a revolution in Nepal, which was led by any established leader, but by the young generation of the country. It was not just the fall of a government, but the whole generation was the finger that stood up to write her future in her hands.
