Taking a historic step towards women empowerment, the Shivraj government of Madhya Pradesh has approved a major change in the 50-year-old pension rules of the state. After the implementation of this new rule, now on the death of the parents, the first entitled to their pension will be the eldest daughter of the family, even if she has a younger brother. The government is preparing to implement this decision in the entire state from April 1, the official proposal of which has been prepared and will soon be presented to the cabinet for final approval. With this decision, lakhs of daughters of the state will get financial support.
Now the daughter will be the first rightful owner, not the son.
According to the new rules proposed by the government, if the daughter in a family is elder than her brother, then she will have the first right on the pension of the parents. This step is being considered a milestone towards social equality. According to the rules till now, after the parents, pension was given first to the son and then to the daughter. But now by changing this system, priority has been given to the daughter, which will strengthen her respect and rights in the family.
You will get pension benefit for life, age limit of 25 years is over.
Under the new rules, unmarried, widowed and divorced daughters will now be given the benefit of family pension for their entire life. For this, the maximum age limit of 25 years has been removed. Till now unmarried daughters were eligible for pension only till the age of 25 years. This decision will become a big support for thousands of daughters who do not have any stable source of income and they will be able to live their lives with dignity.
Disabled people also got great support
Madhya Pradesh government has also taken full care of the future security of the disabled people in the new pension rules. Now such disabled sons, daughters or siblings who are unable to earn livelihood due to their physical or mental disability will also be considered eligible for family pension. The objective of the government is to ensure that in the absence of parents, no disabled dependent faces financial crunch and they continue to get support throughout their life.
Sound of major change in social thinking
This change in pension rules is not just an economic decision, but it is also a deep blow to the conservative thinking towards daughters in the society. With this decision, not only will daughters become financially independent, but they will also get equal status in the family and society. This step of the government is a strong and commendable initiative towards empowering women and giving them equal rights as men, which will lay the foundation of a new and progressive society in the times to come.
