News India Live, Digital Desk: A shocking power scam has surfaced in Jharkhand, in which two private companies have been accused of rigging around 500 crores. After this big fraud, the Jharkhand High Court has sought answers from these two companies, due to which the matter has taken even more serious turn.
What is this 500 crore scam?
The case is related to Jharkhand Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (JBVNL). It is alleged that both these companies have cheated the electricity related tenders and supply. Initial investigations have revealed that these companies did not provide equipment and services to the state as per the prescribed standards, or supplied qualityless things at a higher price, causing a loss of hundreds of crores to the state government. Simply put, it is like robbing the public money, which we earn from our hard work through electricity bills.
What action did the High Court take?
Jharkhand High Court has taken this whole matter very seriously. The court has directed both the accused companies to present their case in this case as soon as possible and file their reply on the allegations mentioned.
