Mumbai – The cyber branch of Maharashtra Police has rescued 60 more Indian citizens in the cyber racket in Myanmar and arrested five agents including a foreign national. An official said on Friday that people were lured by promising jobs.
One of the accused involved in this crime has worked in the web series and television shows. Maharashtra Cyber has registered three FIRs in this regard. Those running the racket contacted the victim through social media platforms. He was offered high -paid jobs in Thailand and other East Asian countries.
The agents arranged for passports and air tickets for the victims and sent them to Thailand on tourist visa. From there he was taken to the Myanmar border. Where the river was crossed with small boats.
After entering Myanmar, he was taken to a campus in Dajwara by armed rebel groups. From there, they were pressurized to commit cyber fraud crime such as digital arrest scheme and hacked investment schemes. Maharashtra cyber and other agencies rescued the victims. But the officer did not say whether this operation was done inside Myanmar or not.
In interrogation of the victims, a network of agents and fraud call center companies was revealed. They were enticing those who wanted to get a job from India. Some of these companies worked under the guise of employment agencies. In this racket, Manish Gray alias Maddi, Tiesan alias Aditya Ravichandan, Rupnarayan Ramadhar Gupta, Jensi Rani D and Chinese-Kazakh Citizen Talaniti Naxa were arrested.
The accused is actor Manish Gray alias Maddy. He has worked in the web series and television shows. Police said that preparations were being made by the foreign accused to set up a unit in India to commit cyber crime.
