The Indian stock market witnessed a sharp decline in volatile trading ahead of key FOMC results tomorrow. At the end of trading, the 30-share BSE Sensex fell 1.3 per cent or 1,064 points to close at 80,684.45, while the Nifty fell 1.35 per cent to 24,336.

These stocks in focus today are as follows:

ITC: The divestment of ITC Hotels will be effective from January 1, 2025. After this development, the stock rose slightly and closed at Rs 470.95 per share.

Vedanta : The stock closed at Rs 503.4 per share, down nearly 2 per cent, in today’s session after the company declared its fourth interim dividend for FY 2024-25.

Wipro: Shares of the Bengaluru-based IT major closed 0.03 per cent lower at Rs 309 after the company announced it has signed an agreement to acquire 100 per cent stake in Applied Value Technologies and its affiliates.

Varun Beverages: Shares of PepsiCo bottler closed 0.3 per cent higher at Rs 647.4 as the company acquired nearly 40 per cent stake in Lunarmac.

HCC : Shares of the civil construction company closed at Rs 44.54, down over 5 per cent, after the company’s board approved the QIP issue the previous day.

Indus Towers: Shares of the telecom infra company closed at Rs 345.2 per share, down more than 2 percent. The company had received tax tribunal orders worth Rs 3,500 crore in its favour.

LT Foods: The company launches Non-Genetically Modified Organism Certified Global Gourmet Food – Daawat® Jasmine Thai Rice. The stock closed at Rs 426.9 per share, up more than 2 per cent.
