70% voting in the second phase huge crowd of voters even in ghost Villages

News India Live, Digital Desk: Uttarakhand Panchayat Elections: The most important festival of local self -government in Uttarakhand, the second phase of panchayat elections has seen vigorous enthusiasm. In this phase on Monday, about 70 percent of the voters across the state exercised their franchise, which is an impressive figure. The most important thing is that they also sparkled with the enthusiasm of the voters, where they once lived silent.

According to state government sources, the heavy participation of voters in these vacant villages has presented a glimpse of ‘reverse migration’. This shows that people are returning to their ancestral villages and are playing an active role in these elections. This is a positive signal, despite the challenges of frequent migration from the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand.

This significant polling of the second phase was successfully concluded in the six districts of Uttarakhand, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat and Tehri Garhwal – in the identified areas of Garhwal. According to the information given by the State Election Commission, about 2 lakh voters were to join this phase. In this, election process was organized for a total of 725 gram panchayats, 2901 ward members and 87 area panchayat members.

This high polling percentage was much better than the first phase, which was held on 5 October. In the second phase, long queues of voters were seen at polling stations since morning, who ensured their participation in this festival of democracy. This clearly reflects the awareness and responsibility of the rural people about its local rule.
