Male : Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu intensified his anti-India rhetoric and said that after May 10, not a single Indian soldier will be present in his country, not even in plain clothes. This information was given in a media news on Tuesday.
Muizzu's statement came less than a week after a non-military contingent from India arrived in the Maldives to replace troops operating an advanced light helicopter. Muizzu had set March 10 as the deadline for the withdrawal of the first group of Indian troops from the country. According to news portal version.mv, Muizu, while addressing the Idhafushi residential community of Ba island, said that people spreading false rumors were distorting the situation due to his government's success in expelling Indian troops from the country. The portal quoted Muizu, who is considered to be a supporter of China, as saying that these people (Indian soldiers) are not leaving the country, they are returning after changing their uniforms and wearing plain clothes. We should not bring thoughts that create doubt in our hearts and spread lies. He said that after May 10, no Indian soldier will be present in the country, neither in uniform nor in plain clothes. Indian Army will not stay in this country wearing any kind of clothes. I say this with confidence. He made this statement on the day his country signed an agreement with China to get free military aid.
Earlier, at a high-level meeting held in Delhi between the two sides on February 2 last month, the Maldives Foreign Ministry had said that India will transfer its troops to three aviation platforms in the island nation and the process will be completed by March 10 in the first phase. Will be completed.
Muizu made similar comments in his maiden address to parliament on 5 February. There are currently 88 Indian soldiers in Maldives who are mainly to operate two helicopters and one aircraft. Hundreds of medical rescue and humanitarian aid missions have been completed through these. Indian troops are operating two helicopters into the city of Addu in the first phase of troops leaving the country, Edition.mv said. Only the troops present in Haa Dhaalu island Honeymadhu and Lamu island Kahadhu are likely to leave the Maldives before May 10.
Meanwhile, Maldives has successfully signed an agreement with Sri Lanka last week to operate aircraft for medical rescue operations, according to local media reports. This shows that he is intent on removing all Indian soldiers.
