American billionaire businessman Elon Musk is intensifying his political activities in the new year also. After showing influence in the US presidential elections, Musk has now turned to Europe. His eyes are fixed on the upcoming elections in Germany and Britain. Meanwhile, Musk has expressed his support to British right-wing leader Tommy Robinson and called for the release of the jailed Robinson. Musk has also criticized British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Earlier, Musk had supported Reform UK Party leader Nigel Farage and announced a donation of $100 million to his party.
Who is Tommy Robinson?
Tommy Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is the founder of the English Defense League (EDL) and is recognized as a controversial right-wing activist. Robinson has been convicted of several criminal cases in Britain, and is currently serving an 18-month sentence for contempt of court in a case involving a Syrian refugee. Robinson aired a controversial documentary, despite a court order, which depicted a sexual assault on a Muslim teenager. The British court termed the claims of this documentary as baseless. This is the fifth time Robinson has been punished.
Reform UK Party leader Nigel Farage, previously associated with the UK Independence Party (UKIP), left UKIP following the party’s association with Robinson and formed the Reform UK Party.
Musk’s support and uproar in Britain
“Robinson, who founded the English Defense League, must be released,” Musk said in a series of posts on social media platform X. Along with this, Musk also posted Robinson’s controversial documentary on X, which is about an hour and 45 minutes long. Musk’s stance has caused a stir in Britain, and many British MPs have described his language as deceitful and dangerous.
This stance of Musk has become a topic of discussion on a large scale in Britain and many MPs have expressed their displeasure over it.
