Adani Group left plan to enter telecom sector by selling spectrum

[ad_1]

In an important development, the Adani Group has completely banned its ambitious plans to enter highly competitive and investment-intensive telecom sector. The Adani Group has sold Bharti Airtel to Bharti Airtel in the auction held in 2022 acquired spectrum for admission to the region.

Adani Group’s company Adani Data Networks Limited (ADNL) has acquired around 400 MHz spectrum in the 26 GHz band in 2022. It was purchased at a price of Rs 212 crore. Now this spectrum has been sold to Airtel. Earlier, the Adani group announced that this spectrum would be used for its use of the group. However, if the spectrum purchasing companies do not comply with the minimum rollout obligations set by the Department of Telecommunications within a specific time limit, then there is a provision to impose a fine on the company. Experts say that this spectrum has been sold because now such a fine is likely to be imposed.

Bharti Airtel and its subsidiary Bharti Haxacom have tied up with Adani Data Network, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, to get 400 MHz spectrum in the 26 GHz band. Bharti Airtel gave this information in a statement. Out of this 400 MHz spectrum, 100 MHz Gujarat and 100 MHz have been allotted to Mumbai, while Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have been allotted 50-50 MHz spectrum.

Earlier, when the Adani Group participated in the auction in 2022 and bought the spectrum, there was a belief in the industry that the group would now step into the telecom sector and there was also speculation that Adani Group, who specializes in external development, would acquire weak companies such as Vodafone. However, the Adani group rejected such speculation and said that it would use this spectrum for creating their own private network and for their business. Meanwhile, experts say it is possible that the Adani Group has left its plan to enter the telecom sector due to the need for heavy investment for development in other areas.

After purchasing the spectrum in 2022, there was speculation that the Adani group would acquire weak companies such as Vodafone, although the group claimed that it would establish a private network and use the spectrum permanently for its business.

If the service is no longer started, then the company was also afraid of paying fine according to the terms of the Department of Telecommunications.
