Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has raised the political stakes across Uttar Pradesh by announcing a major financial assistance scheme of ₹2 lakh for women if his party forms the next government. Addressing media representatives at the Samajwadi Party headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav made a direct challenge to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, declaring that his party is prepared to double whatever monetary pledge the current administration rolls out. The move marks an aggressive gambit to mobilize female voters, setting off an intense welfare showdown ahead of upcoming electoral battles across key assembly segments in central and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Yadav traced the evolution of cash promises in the state, pointing out that his party had initially proposed financial aid of ₹40,000 for women. Following that, the incumbent government pushed the figure to ₹50,000 and eventually escalated its target to ₹1 lakh. In response, the former Chief Minister noted that the Samajwadi Party will now commit ₹2 lakh. Addressing concerns over financial viability, Yadav remarked that under whichever statutory mechanisms or institutional bank borrowing models the ruling government intends to finance its ₹1 lakh rollout, an incoming Samajwadi administration will invoke the exact same administrative and financial frameworks to arrange ₹2 lakh for beneficiaries.
Electoral Calculations and Ground Momentum
The announcement signals a decisive pivot toward competitive economic guarantees aimed at neutralizing the ruling party’s outreach programs across regions like Lucknow, Kanpur, Ayodhya, and Varanasi. Yadav asserted that ground feedback gathered from district-level party units, particularly in reserved constituencies, indicates strong anti-incumbency. Expressing full confidence in organizational preparedness, the SP chief declared that his party is poised to secure a record-breaking assembly tally, expanding significantly beyond past performance thresholds. He reiterated that the party’s existing alliance configuration will remain firmly intact, dismissing rumors of friction within the opposition coalition.
Yadav also leveled sharp criticism at the state’s administrative apparatus, alleging systematic bias in official deployments. He claimed that officers belonging to the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) communities are being deliberately identified and sidelined from critical administrative responsibilities ahead of polls. According to the SP president, the party is compiling an exhaustive list of these administrative transfers and will register a formal complaint with the Election Commission to demand neutral electoral administration across all administrative divisions.

Taking direct jabs at the ruling establishment, Yadav remarked that no matter how much bureaucratic restructuring the current government carries out, the election results are already predetermined. Describing the ruling party’s administrative campaign as a production that will fall flat before its actual release, he argued that public sentiment across Uttar Pradesh has decisively shifted toward real economic relief.
Yadav also took aim at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent political remarks and targeted government policy on regional integrity. Commenting on ongoing discussions regarding dividing Uttar Pradesh into smaller administrative zones, Yadav cautioned that those advocating division at the national level are now attempting to fracture the state. By positioning the ₹2 lakh cash transfer at the forefront of his policy agenda, Yadav aims to turn direct economic security for women into the central axis of the opposition campaign against the double-engine dispensation.
