News India Live, Digital Desk: Supporters of Shiromani Akali Dal (Maan faction) from Amritsar Golden Temple I shouted slogans of ‘Khalistan Zindabad’. The slogans were raised when party leader Simranjit Singh Mann went to the holy site of Sikhs to celebrate the 41st anniversary of Operation Blue Star on Thursday. Friday is also the death anniversary of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who was killed during the military campaign.
Expressing his views on the anniversary, Jasbir Singh Rhode, former Jathedar of the Akal Takht, said, “Till date the government does not have the answer why such a holy place of Sikhs was attacked. The Sikhs were demanding their rights. He did not announce an attack against the Indian government. Then we were attacked without any notice or warning, such as we were attacked.”
He said, “Today people from across the seven seas are celebrating. People from all over the country have come here to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for our religion.”
Reacting to the slogans of ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ installed in the Golden Temple and other places, Jasbir Singh Rode said, “These slogans have always been raised here and around the world. There is nothing new in it.”
Operation Blue Star was run to take out the terrorists from the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar. As a result, many people lost their lives and the holy temple was also damaged.
