Ankita murder case: All three convicts get life imprisonment, Uttarakhand court important decision

Dehradun: The local court has pronounced its verdict in the famous Ankita Bhandari murder case of Uttarakhand. The court sentenced three accused to life imprisonment, including resort owner Pulkit Arya. 19 -year -old Ankita worked as a receptionist at this resort. Ankita was murdered in September 2022 by Pulkit, Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta. The court finally found the three accused guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Reena Negi of Kotdwar court in Uttarakhand has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the three convicts. The body of Ankita Bhandari, who worked as a receptionist at the Jantantra Resort in Yamkeshwar in Pauri district of Uttarakhand, was found in the canal. Vinod Arya, the father of Pulkit, the main accused in the murder, was involved in the BJP at the time of the incident. Politics was hot on this issue. The three convicts were produced in court on Friday, where they were sentenced to life imprisonment. However, the sentence of life imprisonment for these culprits is a normal thing, they were laughing in front of the media and the public after getting out of the court. There was no remorse on his face.

Investigation revealed that there was a dispute between Ankita and Pulkit, after which Pulkit killed Ankita along with Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta and threw her body into the canal. Many claims were being made at the time of this massacre. After the dispute, the BJP eventually expelled Vinod Arya, father of the killer Pulkit Arya from the party. There were reports that Pulkit Arya’s resort was providing special VIP facilities and Pulkit Arya had pressurized Ankita to provide these VIP facilities. However, Ankita refused. After which he was murdered. After this incident, a large number of people took to the streets and demanded justice for Ankita. After the dispute, an SIT was formed for investigation. The SIT questioned a total of 97 witnesses, out of which 47 witnesses were recorded. A complaint was filed against the accused under sections 302 (murder), 201 (destroying evidence), 354A (tampering) and prevention of prostitution Act.
