The network of expressways in Uttar Pradesh is now about to reach a new level. The government is preparing to build a huge ‘Green Corridor’ which will not only directly connect eastern Uttar Pradesh with western UP and Haryana, but will also open new avenues of progress for 22 districts. With the construction of this expressway, the load of vehicles on the National Highway will be reduced and tourism will also get a huge boost.

The name of this new expressway is Gorakhpur-Shamli-Panipat Expressway. Let us know everything about this huge project.

How will this expressway be constructed?

This mega project is planned to be completed in two phases, with a total length of about 750 kilometers:

  • First Step: Construction of about 450 kilometers from Panipat-Shamli to Puwayan in Shahjahanpur.
  • Second step: Construction of about 300 kilometers from Puwayan to Gorakhpur.

The biggest advantage will be that after its construction the journey from Gorakhpur to Shamli will be only 7 to 8 hours This can be completed in 25 minutes, which will result in huge savings of both time and fuel.

What’s going on right now?

At present, the work of the third survey is going on at a fast pace to finalize the route of this expressway, which is in its final stage. This survey will decide what will be the most direct and accurate route of the expressway and where there will be a need to build bridges, overbridges and flyovers. This survey report may take about three months to prepare, after which its final DPR (Detail Project Report) will be sent to the government.

Where will this expressway pass?

Making changes to the earlier plans, preparations are now underway to take this expressway through a new and more profitable route. According to the new plan, this expressway will pass through the districts bordering Nepal. Lucknow, Sitapur, Bareilly and Meerut Will reach Shamli via. In Gorakhpur district itself, this expressway can pass through about 50 villages, for which NHAI has also started asking for land records from the district administration.

The responsibility of this project has now been handed over to Ayodhya NHAI. Earlier there was a plan to build it only till Shamli, but to connect Haryana also it has been extended till Panipat. As soon as the route survey work is completed, its final route will be decided.
