If you are thinking of completing any bank related work today, i.e. on Monday 27th October, then this news is very important for you. Today, due to the great festival of faith, Chhath Puja, banks are locked in many states of the country. Especially in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, there will be no work in banks today.

It has become a long weekend for people. Banks were closed on Saturday as it was the fourth Saturday, then there is a weekly holiday on Sunday and now there is a holiday in banks on Monday on the occasion of Chhath Puja (Evening Arghya). That means banks in these states have been closed for three consecutive days and will now open only on Tuesday.

Why is Chhath Puja special?

Chhath Puja is the biggest festival of worship of Sun God, which starts six days after Diwali. It is a festival of four days in which the devotees observe a rigorous waterless fast of 36 hours. During this time, by offering Arghya to the setting and rising Sun, one prays to the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya for the happiness, peace, good health and long life of one’s family. This festival is a symbol of purity, faith and self-discipline.
