Defamation of reputation on social media and demand of ₹ 50,000
MLA Pappu Kumar Verma said in his complaint to the police that some anti-social elements had been using abusive and ‘Awadhi’ language against him on Facebook and other social media platforms for a long time.
Extortion amount: The accused asked the MLA ₹50,000 demanded.
Method of Threat: The MLA was continuously mentally harassed through messages and posts on Facebook and threatened with dire consequences if he did not pay the money. [1.1]
