Zelensky gambled against NATO
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, ‘To end this terrible war, it is necessary that NATO occupies the vacant parts of Ukraine and offers to take Ukraine into NATO. The NATO invitation recognizes Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders. If there is a ceasefire, the Russian-occupied eastern parts will remain out of any such agreement for the time being.
He further said, ‘If we want to stop this aggressive phase of the war, we will have to bring the area of Ukraine over which we control under the umbrella of NATO.’
Speculation of Donald Trump’s return
Reports have claimed that ending the Russia-Ukraine war could be a plan of America’s newly elected President Donald Trump. It was also possible that if Ukraine had joined NATO, it was also possible that Zelensky would have agreed to cede captured land in Ukraine to Moscow.
