The Islamic Republic of Pakistan announced on Saturday that the attack on Kentuki Fried Chicken (KFC) and McDonalds across the country would be considered a terrorist attack. Pakistan’s Minister of State for Home Talal Chaudhary said in a press conference, “Such incidents will not be considered separate from terrorist attacks. These franchisees invest more than $ 100 million in Pakistan, employment to more than 25,000 people, and pay taxes completely. They buy local vendors, and buy profits, and live in Pakistan. What can be done for such attacks?”
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered to increase security
Chaudhary also said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered the provincial coordination to ensure safety of businesses and arrest the suspects with immediate effect. According to the minister, more than 145 arrests have been made in Punjab and 15 in Islamabad, as well as 12 FIRs have been registered. The arrested people expressed repentance and apologized.
Decorates of clerics and action of government
Chaudhary also said that the attack was not organized. He said that the clerics of the country have issued a decree, calling such acts non-Islamic. He said that it is wrong to target fast-food franchisees in the name of Islam and express anger. He appealed to the youth not to get misled by extremist elements.
Tight security arrangements
The Minister of State for Home also stated that the security of these outlets will be increased and any person will have to face strict action on trying to attack. The attacks took place in Palestine’s major cities of Sindh and Punjab provinces in Palestine, such as Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Sheikhpura.
