Attention These 4 rules of ration card and gas cylinder have changed from January 1, 2026, if even one is missed, ration subsidy will stop!

From January 1, 2026, four such changes are taking place regarding ration cards and gas cylinders, which will have a direct impact on crores of common people of the country.

The aim of the government is to prevent theft and fraud through these changes, so that government help reaches only the real needy. If you also take free ration or subsidized gas cylinder, then it is very important for you to know these new rules, otherwise your name may be removed from the list in the new year.

Rule 1: No E-KYC, no ration! (Most important rule)

This is the biggest and most drastic change.

• What is the rule: If you have not yet got the Aadhaar verification (thumb impression) of all your family members done by visiting the ration shop, then your ration card will be canceled from January 1, 2026.
• What has to be done: Every member of the family will have to confirm their identity by putting their thumb on the POS machine installed at the ration shop.
• What if someone is outside? Under the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme, a person can get his KYC done by visiting any government ration shop in the country.

Rule 2: Ration cards of these ‘rich’ people will be cancelled!

The government is now tightening its grip on those people who, despite not being poor, are violating the rights of the poor. Now ration cards of these people will be cut:

• Whose family has a four-wheeler (car, tractor etc.).
• In whose family someone does a government job.
• Those who pay income tax.
• Those who have more than 5 acres of irrigated land.

If any such person is caught during the investigation, then the ration taken from him till now will be recovered at the market rate.

Rule 3: ‘thumb’ required for gas subsidy

Now biometric KYC has been made mandatory to get subsidy on gas cylinders.

• What is the rule: From January 1, 2026, gas subsidy will be stopped for those people who have not updated their biometrics by visiting their gas agency.
• New rule regarding OTP: Now at the time of delivery of gas cylinder, you may have to tell the OTP received on your mobile to the delivery boy, only then you will get the cylinder. This will stop black marketing of gas.

Rule 4: Now the hassles of offices are over, ration card will be made sitting at home

This is a relief news!

• What is the rule: From January 1, 2026, all the work like making a new ration card, adding name or changing address will be completely online.
• What is the benefit to you: Now you will not have to make rounds of babus and offices. You will be able to do all the work sitting at home from your mobile, which will save time and also get rid of middlemen.

Last warning: If you have not yet completed your E-KYC, then do it without any delay before 31st December 2025!
