Melbourne, Aug 19 (HS) Australia captain Alyssa Healy said she finds it difficult to play the ICC T20 World Cup in Bangladesh as the country continues to grapple with the aftermath of violence and crises that led to several deaths and a government coup.

This year, the tournament will be held from October 3 to 20. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to decide on an alternate venue for the tournament, with the UAE being considered the favourite.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently rejected the request to hold the tournament in India. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe are also being considered as options.

“I find it hard to see cricket events happening there at this time and taking away resources from a country that is struggling. They need every person possible to help people who are dying. I find it hard to play there at this time, as a human being, I think it might be the wrong thing to do. But I leave it to the ICC,” Healy was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Australia will announce their squad for the World Cup next Monday. They won their sixth title by defeating South Africa by 19 runs in the final of the last edition.
