Baltimore Bridge tragedy: US President Biden calls ship's Indian crew members 'heroes'

The Baltimore Bridge collapsed: This incident has become a topic of discussion all over the world after the 2.5 km long Francis Scott Bridge collapsed due to the collision of a huge cargo ship in Baltimore, America. The theory that it was a terrorist attack also circulated in the early hours after the ship hit the bridge. However, now everyone from the US President to the security agencies have said that it was an accident.

Appreciated the punctuality of Indian crew members

All 22 crew members of this ship were Indians. In a statement regarding the ship's accident, US President Joe Biden has praised the promptness of the crew members. The bridge accident revealed that before the ship hit the bridge, a crew member had alerted Maryland authorities that the ship was out of control. Due to which traffic on this bridge was stopped. If such warnings had not been given by the ship's crew members, hundreds of lives would have been lost.

Referring to this matter, Biden said that the ship's staff had already informed the government that the ship was going out of control. This could not be controlled and due to this the concerned authorities got the opportunity to stop the traffic on the bridge. Based on the investigation so far, it can be said that this was a horrific accident. So far there is no reason to believe that the ship collided with the bridge intentionally.

Earlier, Maryland state Governor Wes Moore said that crew members had made an emergency call about a power outage on the ship. Due to which the vehicles were stopped before reaching the bridge. These crew members are heroes and they saved many lives last night. The investigation is currently underway but I am grateful to these crew members for their timely warning.
