Ban on showing live coverage of military activities

Mumbai-After the fierce terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Kashmir, the stressful situation along the India-Pakistan border has been banned from showing electronic media, social media and news agencies from showing live coverage of any military movement or military operations in the interest of national security.

According to the advisory issued by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, it has been advisable to not show real -time live coverage of any incident, including the movement of army personnel, anti -terrorism campaigns and ongoing preparations in the border region, and to perform their duties with responsibility and restraint.

During the 2008 disastrous 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, TV news channels had to bear the consequences of showing live coverage. Based on this live coverage, Pakistan-based terrorist leaders were informing terrorists about the lack of food grains in Mumbai and were alerting them about the police and security forces deployed. Earlier during the Kargil War, India suffered losses due to live coverage of electronic media. The media has been advised to take restraint in this regard.
