Varanasi, 24 July (HS). Scientists of the Center for Genetic Disorders of BHU Science Institute have taken a unique initiative. Comics have been created to explain the complexities of genetics to students at school level. An e-book called Genetic Odyssey – Genetic Concepts Through Comics has been designed for students of classes 9 to 12.

The art illustrations in this e-book have been created by Nandini and the technical team of Learn with Comics. Two stories presented in comic style “Life’s Code – DNA” tells about our genetic material and “DNA Rakshak” tells about cancer. These stories are available in this e-book in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Gujarati apart from English. This project was a part of the IndiaBioscience Outreach Grant, which was funded by IndiaBioscience. Dr. Chandana, Dr. Garima were among the five teams from across the country who were given this award. It is believed that this e-book will help teachers who are looking for new educational material and understand the complexities of genetics in an easy way to know the mysteries of heredity.
