Big bet of Yogi government before UP Panchayat elections, now Aadhar cards will be made in villages only.

News India Live, Digital Desk: Before the Panchayat elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath government is preparing to make Gram Panchayats more powerful. The government is going to take such a step which will not only speed up the pace of development in the villages, but will also free the villagers from having to travel to the city or block for small needs. There is news that the government is going to hand over many new rights to the Gram Panchayats, the most important of which is the facility to make and update Aadhaar card.

Now Aadhaar will be made in the village itself, elderly and women will get relief

Till now, villagers had to go to the Aadhaar Seva Centers in the block, tehsil or city to get a new Aadhaar card made or to update any information like name, address, date of birth etc. This process often took the whole day and people had to stand in long lines. The elderly, women and the disabled were most troubled by this.

But now under the new scheme of Yogi government, this facility will be made available at the Gram Panchayat level only. Machines will be installed in every village secretariat to make and update Aadhaar cards and employees will be trained. With this decision, crores of villagers will save both time and money and they will be able to easily avail the benefits of government schemes.

Not just Aadhaar, the scope of Panchayats will increase

According to sources, the government’s plan is not limited to Aadhar card only. Preparations are underway to give many more powers to the Panchayats so that the concept of “Gram Swaraj” can be implemented on the ground. These rights may include:

• Settlement of minor disputes: Panchayats can be given more legal powers to resolve minor land or family disputes in villages.
• Direct role in development work: The role of Gram Panchayats in MNREGA and other development schemes will be further increased so that the work can be done quickly and with transparency.
• Tax collection at local level: To make Panchayats self-reliant, they can also be given the right to collect some local taxes.

Masterstroke before Panchayat elections?

Political experts are seeing this step of Yogi government as a big “masterstroke” before the Panchayat elections. This decision will have a direct impact on a large population living in the village. This step of the government will not only make the lives of the people living in villages easier, but will also make the village heads and Panchayat representatives feel more empowered. This can give direct benefit to BJP in the upcoming Panchayat elections.

At present, the Panchayati Raj Department is busy finalizing this proposal and it is expected that it will soon get approval from the Cabinet.
