Big decision of Indian Railways: Now the chart will be prepared 24 hours before the train is ready, passengers will get the address to be confirmed!

Indian Railways has made a major change to improve the convenience and travel planning of railway passengers. Now passengers whose tickets are in Waiting List, they are leaving the train 24 hours ago It will be known whether their ticket has been confirmed or not. This step will give a big relief to the passengers from the uncertainty that remained on the confirmation of tickets till the last time.

What was the problem in the old rule?

Till now the reservation chart was usually prepared 4 hours before the opening of the train.]Travelers with waiting list often had trouble till the last time whether their seat would be confirmed or not. Due to this short time limit, the railway also did not have enough time to have additional coaches or planning to run alternative trains.

Benefits of new rule:

  • Better travel planning: Passengers will now get more time to make an alternative plan for their journey, if their ticket is not confirmed.

  • End of uncertainty The concern about waiting tickets will be overcome to a great extent.

  • Benefits Railways: With the construction of the chart a day before, the Railways will get a clear information about how many passengers have confirmed tickets and how many are currently weightlisted. With this, the railway will be able to arrange additional coaches, run clone trains or make other alternative arrangements, so that passengers can also get convenience on congested routes.

  • No-show passengers information: According to the Railways, about 21% of the passengers canceled after booking tickets, while 4-5% passengers do not travel (no-show).The new rule will get information about such canceled and ‘no-show’ tickets first, so that those seats can be filled through current booking.

Current Status and Further Plan:

This new system has been started experimentally in Bikaner Division from June 6, 2025.Initial reactions have been positive, and travelers are calling it a good choice. After the success in Bikaner, the scheme will now be implemented on other congested routes in the country, such as trains going from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal, where the waiting list is usually longer.

Important information:

  • This change is only related to the time of preparing the reservation chart. The process of Tatkal ticket booking will continue as before and no change has been made in it.

  • Another strict rule has come into force since 1 May 2025: Now passengers with waiting list are not allowed to travel to the reserved coach (Sleeper or AC) without a ticket or RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) ticket. A fine can be imposed on caught (₹ 250 to ₹ 440) and can also be launched at the next station.

The purpose of these new rules is to give better experience to the passengers, curb fraud and make the train journey more systematic.
