The good thing is that now the government has set new targets, due to which permission has been given to make new cards at the district level. Now new names will be able to be added and families whose cards were canceled due to some reason will also be able to get them reinstated by proving their eligibility.

Why was the file stuck?

It is often seen that when the number of old ration cards reaches the prescribed limit, the system stops accepting new names. For this, a new ‘target’ was awaited at the departmental level. Now after the census data and new instructions of the government, the officials have intensified the verification at the ground level. Fake names are being removed so that the rights of those who are truly poor are not snatched away.

• Attention to Eligibility: Those who are really eligible can apply at the Jan Seva Kendra (CSC) with their Aadhar card, income certificate and family photograph.
• Role of Accountant and Fulfillment Inspector: After the application, the accountant and supply department staff will go to your home and check whether you are the real beneficiary of the scheme or not. If all goes well, very soon you will have the key to ‘cheap and free’ ration in your hands.
