Do you have an Aadhaar card? Obviously, it will happen, because today it has become the most important identity card in the country. It is needed everywhere from opening a bank account to benefiting from government schemes. But, do you know that if a little disturbance was caught in your Aadhaar card or misused, then you can also go to jail directly and you may have to pay a fine of lakhs of rupees? The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has implemented very strict rules on this.
The misuse of Aadhaar card was expensive, know which mistakes will bring trouble:
The UIDAI, which issues the base, has enacted new and stringent laws to alert citizens and clamp down on fraudsters. Now no person will be spared who will violate the rules related to Aadhaar. Mainly, the mistakes on which this action will be taken are:
-
Creating or keeping fake or fake basis: If you are caught whether you have created a fake Aadhaar card or kept with you, or are using someone else’s Aadhaar card incorrectly, it will be considered directly to crime. It will come under the purview of forgery and fraud.
-
Crusting of another’s base: Using the Aadhaar number of another person for any financial or non-financial advantage without his knowledge or approval can also put you in great difficulty. This includes activities such as online fraud, wrong transactions of money, or any identity theft.
-
Giving deliberately wrong information: If you deliberately give your identity, biometrics, or any personal information wrong while registration or updating Aadhaar, then it will be considered fraud and you will come under the purview of the law.
-
Selling or abusing Aadhaar for Financial Benefits: There are many gangs active who sell or hire Aadhaar data to be used in money laundering, subsidy fraud or other crimes. There is a provision of strict punishment for involvement in any such activity.
-
Damage to UIDAI’s system: If a person deliberately damages or contaminates UIDAI’s Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR) or any part of it, he can also be strictly punished.
What is the provision of punishment?
After the Income Tax Department, UIDAI is now using its powers under the Aadhaar Act, 2016 (Aadhaar Act, 2016). Mainly, Aadhaar Act Section 34 Under, whoever deliberately makes fake grounds, uses, or cheats him:
-
Jail up to 3 years Can be punished.
-
And/or Heavy fine of up to ₹ 1 lakh May have to be filled.
Similarly, Section 35 applies to those who try to damage or change the central database of UIDAI, similar strict action is taken on them.
Why have such strict steps taken?
The purpose of UIDAI is to make the Aadhaar card even more secure and reliable. These rules have been brought to crack down on those who carry out illegal activities by misusing forged documents or identity of others. This will help in preventing fraud, money laundering, and corruption in government schemes.
What to do and what not to do for base holders:
-
Protect your base information: Do not share any sensitive information related to your Aadhaar number, especially your Aadhaar OTP or Aadhaar on any unknown person or unknown website.
-
Beware of fake calls and sms: Be cautious of fake calls coming in the name of UIDAI or a bank/government official, who asks you Aadhaar number or OTP.
-
Report abuse: If you feel that your Aadhaar card is being misused, then immediately report it to UIDAI’s helpline or nearest police station.
-
Update Aadhaar: Ensure that your biometric and demographic information is always updated in the base.
These new and strict rules are not for common citizens, but for those who are involved in illegal activities. As a conscious and responsible citizen, we should use our base correctly and safely.
