There is a big and relief news for lakhs of central government employees and pensioners. The government is going to implement new rules from Monday, October 13 to make cashless treatment available in private hospitals under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) easier. With this step, the hassle of running from door to door and lengthy paperwork for treatment will be reduced to a great extent.
Now you won’t have to wait long
Till now, if a CGHS beneficiary had to be admitted to a private hospital, the hospital had to first obtain an authorization letter (consent letter) from the CGHS department, which wasted a lot of time. But now this process has been stopped.
According to the new rules:
- The entire process will be online: The hospital itself will upload the patient’s information on the online portal and will take necessary approval from the CGHS department within 24 hours. With this, the patient and his family will not have to face the hassle of any kind of paperwork.
Why was this change needed?
The government has been receiving complaints for a long time that many empaneled private hospitals refuse to provide cashless facility to CGHS card holders or make them wait for a long time for treatment. The purpose of the new rules is to eliminate this problem from its roots so that every beneficiary can get better treatment on time and without any hassle.
This decision is no less than a big gift for all the government employees, pensioners and their families covered under CGHS, which will provide them great convenience in times of emergency.
