News India Live, Digital Desk: Anti-Corruption Team: Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwar, we have been listening and reading these verses since childhood. Teacher, ie Guru, has been given the status of God in our society, because they have the biggest responsibility to groom the future of our children. But when this guru wages the dignity of his position and makes the temple of knowledge a base of corruption, what will you say?
A similar embarrassing case has come out from Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh, where the Principal of a primary school, taking a bribe of Rs 50,000, was caught by the anti-corruption team. And this was just the first installment, the deal was fixed for a full 2 lakh rupees.
What were you asking for ‘commission’ for what?
The case is of Nagla Hatti, a primary school in Firozabad, where Principal Manoj Kumar was seriously accused. It happened that the village head Devendra Singh had done development works worth about Rs 13.59 lakh in the school, such as making boundary wall, repairing toilet and installing interlocking tiles. When the time came to pass the bill of these works, the principal showed his true color.
It is alleged that Principal Manoj Kumar asked Pradhan in exchange for passing these bills as a ‘commission’ i.e. bribe.
Anti-corruption team laid such a trap
Troubled by this demand of the principal, the village head quietly complained to the anti-corruption unit of Agra. As soon as the complaint was received, the team prepared a complete plan to catch the principal red handed.
According to the plan, Principal Devendra Singh called the principal to a restaurant on the National Highway to give Rs 50,000 as the first installment of bribe. As soon as the Principal Saheb arrived at the restaurant and he took the bribe money in his hand, the anti-corruption team already caught him. When caught red handed with bribe money, the air of the principal flew away.
This incident has once again put a big stain on the holy profession like education. The question arises that what will the teacher who is involved in corruption himself, what will teach children the lesson of honesty and morality? At present, a case has been registered against the accused principal and sent to behind bars.
