News India Live, Digital Desk:Very shocking pictures are emerging this year regarding ‘Diploma in Elementary Education’ (D.El.Ed), the basic course to become a primary teacher in Uttar Pradesh. On one hand, the local youth of Uttar Pradesh seems to be losing interest in this course and almost half the seats are lying vacant, while on the other hand, the interest of the candidates from outside states has surprised everyone. Meanwhile, technical glitches in the scholarship portal have given students sleepless nights.
Crisis of vacant seats: Decrease in interest among the youth of UP
Filling D.El.Ed seats in private and government colleges of the state has become a big challenge for the department this time. According to the data, almost half of the total allotted seats are still vacant. Experts believe that due to delay in new teacher recruitments and limited employment opportunities, the inclination of local students has increased towards B.Ed or other professional courses. In many districts of Uttar Pradesh, the condition of private colleges is very worrying, where only a few students have taken admission.
Entry of candidates from outside states: increased demand from Bihar and Jharkhand
News of relief for D.El.Ed colleges of Uttar Pradesh has come from neighboring states. This time, youth from states like Bihar, Jharkhand and Rajasthan have applied extensively in D.El.Ed colleges of UP. Candidates from outside states believe that the training quality of UP and the merit based process here is better for their future. Due to this growing trend, the glory of many colleges depends on the strength of external students.
Scholarship portal goes bust, students’ stress increases
Now a new problem has arisen in front of the students who have taken admission. Uttar Pradesh Scholarship portal is not working smoothly for the last several days due to technical problems. When students are trying to feed their data or check status, the portal is showing ‘Server Error’. For financially weak students, scholarship is the only means of paying the fees, in such a situation, the future of thousands of students seems to be hanging in the balance due to the portal being down.
Demand of students: Request to extend the date of application
In view of the malfunction of the portal and vacant seats, student organizations and college management are continuously demanding from the government to extend the application deadline. Students say that if the portal is not fixed soon and the application date is not extended, they will be deprived of the financial aid they get this year. Although the Social Welfare Department has assured that efforts are being made to remove the technical glitches, students are still facing problems at the ground level.
