Patna: This time winter has hit Bihar well before time. While a mild pink cold is usually felt in the month of November, this year the shivering cold like December has troubled people. It seemed as if records were broken on Saturday night, when the mercury dropped to 9-10 degrees Celsius in many districts. The Meteorological Department says that this is just the beginning, the havoc of cold may increase further in the coming days.
Which districts are trembling the most?
From the capital Patna to Gaya, Nawada, Buxar and Sheikhpura, severe cold is being felt in the morning. Now people have taken out warm clothes and in many places bonfires have also started burning.
If we talk about the figures, the maximum cold is being felt in Nowhatta of Rohtas, where the mercury fell to 9.6 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, temperature was recorded at 10.1 degrees in Gaya, 10.5 degrees in Nawada and 10.8 degrees in Buxar. The night temperature has gone below 15 degrees in almost entire Bihar, due to which the chill in the morning and evening has increased considerably.
Cold winds and fog increased the difficulty
The biggest reason for this bone-chilling cold is the icy winds with a speed of 20-30 kilometers per hour coming from the mountains. These winds have suddenly changed the weather. The Meteorological Department has also warned that light to moderate fog may occur in many areas in the next 48 hours, due to which driving on the roads may become difficult. Fog and cold wind have also affected the air quality and AQI has reached “very poor” level in cities like Patna.
How will the weather of Bihar be in future?
According to the Meteorological Department, there is no hope of Bihar getting relief from cold for the next one week. The temperature will drop further. In districts of South Bihar like Gaya, Nawada and Rohtas, the night temperature can remain between 11-14 degrees. Even if the sky remains clear during the day, cold wind and fog in the morning and evening will increase people’s problems.
