The BIS Care App can be downloaded from any smartphone app store. The buyer can enter HUID in this app and verify the quality of the gold he is going to buy. It will also give information about the jeweler and hallmarking center.
Magnet testing
Gold retail sellers say that a person can also do a magnet test – touching a piece of gold jewelery with a magnet. The real gold will not attract the magnet. Another thing is that the customer should always ask for a bill from the seller. It should have the weight of gold, carat and jewelery written in it. Gold jewelery is usually available in India in 22 carats, 18 carats and 14 carats. Pure gold is 24 carats used in coins and bars. 24 carat gold cannot be made jewelery.
