News India Live, Digital Desk: The armies of Pakistan and Afghanistan, which have been facing each other on the Durand Line for the last several days, have decided to keep their weapons silent on the holy occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Amidst the ongoing fierce shelling and tension on the border, both the countries Ceasefire Has been announced, due to which thousands of families living on the borders have heaved a sigh of relief.

Message of ‘peace’ amid tension

Relations between the Taliban, which is in power in Afghanistan, and the Government of Pakistan had reached an extremely low level in the last few weeks. Recently, air strikes inside Afghanistan by Pakistan and retaliation by Taliban had created a war-like situation. But in view of the festival of Eid, both sides have mutually decided on a temporary ceasefire.

Why did Pakistan and Afghanistan clash?

The main roots of this controversy lie in these three points:

TTP issue: Pakistan alleges that the terrorists of ‘Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’ (TTP) are using the soil of Afghanistan to carry out attacks in Pakistan.

Durand Line dispute: The Taliban continues to refuse to recognize the Durand Line as the official border, leading to frequent clashes over the fencing.

Air Strikes: The attacks by Pakistan in Khost and Kunar provinces had added fuel to the fire.

What after Eid?

However, this ceasefire is likely to be limited only to the festival of Eid. Defense experts believe that unless a permanent solution is found to the TTP and border dispute, this peace will remain temporary. At present, local commanders of both the countries have been instructed to avoid any kind of provocative action during Eid.
