News India Live, Digital Desk: In today’s era when everyone is running after a government job or a good package, a surprising thing is coming to light. While Ayurveda and Naturopathy are gaining popularity all over the world, in India, seats for courses like ‘D.Pharma Ayurveda’ remain vacant in many states. The situation in many colleges is such that it becomes difficult to fill even half the seats.

Now the big question arises that when the Ayurveda sector is flourishing so much, then why are the youth running away from this course? Is there really less scope in this or are we missing some important information?

Where is the problem?
According to experts, the biggest reason for this problem is ‘Lack of Awareness’. Most of the students and parents know only about Allopathy i.e. D.Pharma with English medicines. They think that career is limited to just opening a medical store or giving medicines in a hospital. At the same time, there is still a perception in the society regarding Ayurveda Pharmacy that job opportunities in it are limited.

This career is not limited to just powder and chutney.
The truth is that big companies like Patanjali, Dabur, Himalaya, and Hamdard are working globally today. Here posts like Pharmacist, Production Manager and Research Assistant provide good salaries. Not only this, the government is now increasing the availability of Ayurveda medicines at every PHC and wellness centres, which means that a lot of posts are being created for D.Pharma Ayurveda people in the government sector also.

Why are students disillusioned?

  1. Delay in counseling and process: Often the counseling for Ayurveda courses starts much after the regular courses. By then, students have either taken admission somewhere else or choose another course to save years.
  2. Misunderstandings: Many people think that no education is required to make Ayurvedic medicines, whereas it is as much a scientific and technical course as any other pharmacy course.
  3. Less Marketing: Advertisements for medical courses often focus on allopathy, due to which Ayurveda pharmacy is less accessible to children in rural areas.

What is the way forward?
If you are looking for a less crowded course with a secure future and also the possibility of starting your own business, then D.Pharma Ayurveda can be a great option. The government is now making new policies to make students aware of this course. If students understand its benefits in time, then these vacant seats can become a source of a great career for them.

So next time at the time of admission, don’t just look at the crowd, also look at the place where the scope is more but the noise is less.
