Central Government Employees Da Hike: This move of the Center has anxiety among government employees ..!

Central Government Employees Da Hike:Around 35 lakh central employees and 67 lakh pensioners are expecting salary hike from the 8th Pay Commission. However, since the government has not yet officially confirmed the formation of the commission, the salary hike is likely to be delayed. Due to this, many employee unions have expressed concern and urged the government to set up the commission as soon as possible.

According to senior officials, although internal discussion is going on, it is unlikely that the Pay Commission will come into force by the deadline of January 1, 2026. The commission’s recommendations usually take 18-24 months to implement. In this context, the salary hike is likely to be implemented in the end of 2026 or early 2027.

What is fitment factor?

The fitment factor is a multiplier to modify the basic salary of the employees. It was 2.57 in the Seventh Pay Commission, due to which the minimum wage increased from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000. Experts have speculated that the Fitment Factor in the Eighth Pay Commission may be between 2.5 and 2.86. Due to this, the minimum wage can increase from Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000, Teamlies Vice President Krishnendu told the media.

Changes in dearness allowance (DA):

Dearness allowances are revised twice a year, which compensates for the influence of inflation. The DA is expected to be implemented from July 2025 before the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. In addition, the DA is likely to combine with the original salary, which can lead to significant changes in the total salary.

Expectations: There is a possibility of significant changes in salary, allowances and pension from the 8th Pay Commission. The minimum wage is expected to increase from Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000, and a similar amendment in pension can be done. Despite having a DA reset, high allowances can compensate for the reduction of initial increments.

Employees Unions are demanding the formation of the commission by the end of 2025. Some unions have demanded 20% interim relief before implementation, which was provided during the 5th and 6th Pay Commission.
