City of changes: Kanpur, the historic and industrial city of Uttar Pradesh, which is situated on the banks of the Ganges river, has many historical secrets in itself. The name of this city has been changed at least 20 times. Currently, the real and oldest name of this city, known as ‘Kanpur’, was ‘Kanapur’, which is considered based on the name of Hindu king Kanhaiya or ‘Kanai’. Over time, it turned from ‘Khanpur’ to ‘Khanpur’ and then ‘Kanpur’.
Ancient texts and historical evidence shows that the name of this city was also ‘Khanpur’ during the Mughal period.
