News India Live, Digital Desk: Alliances and seat distribution have always been a difficult task in Bihar politics, and recently similar difficulties were seen in the Grand Alliance too. The tussle for seats that goes on before the Lok Sabha elections or during the Assembly elections often becomes very vocal in Bihar.
It is reported that no specific agreement has been reached yet between Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and other parties of the Grand Alliance regarding seats. Actually, the Grand Alliance mainly includes parties like RJD, Congress and Mukesh Sahni’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP). Everyone wants their own share, but RJD as the largest party is putting its point forward.
Tejashwi Yadav, who is a senior leader of RJD, gave an indication that if the seat sharing is not done and if parties like Congress or Mukesh Sahni break the alliance, then RJD is ready to contest alone and in that case it can contest on 138 seats. However, he also said that if the alliance remains then RJD is ready for compromise from its side, but Congress can get only 58 seats and Mukesh Sahni’s party can get 10 seats. At the same time, there is also talk of giving 29 seats to the left parties.
But, Congress is not at all satisfied with these 58 seats. He believes that such a small number of seats is not acceptable to him because he also has his own political ground in Bihar. Similarly, Mukesh Sahni also seems unhappy with the less seats. His party wants him to get more respectable seats, so that he can contest elections with his vote bank.
Due to this tussle, some sourness is clearly visible in the Grand Alliance. It remains to be seen whether these parties finally reach an agreement or whether everyone goes their separate ways. At present, everyone’s eyes are on whether the ongoing deadlock over seat sharing will end, or whether new equations will be created on the electoral chessboard of Bihar.
