News India Live, Digital Desk: Jharkhand, which we call the jewel of nature and minerals, today the termites of illegal mining are slowly hollowing out the land there. Now the Jharkhand High Court has taken a very strict stand on this game that has been going on for a long time. It is clear from the latest stand of the court that whitewashing will no longer work.
Actually, complaints of illegal stone and coal mining in Jharkhand are not new, but the matter became more serious when the court observed that despite strict orders the conditions on the ground were not changing. Expressing deep displeasure over this, the High Court has sought a reply from the Hemant Soren government. The court has asked a direct question that how is all this flourishing right under the nose of the administration?
The things that came to light during the High Court hearing are really scary. Mountains are being cut haphazardly, rivers are deteriorating and some white-collared people and mafias are being said to have a big hand in all this. The court has made it clear that it does not want action only on paper, but change should be seen on the ground.
If seen, this matter is not only about the politics of Jharkhand, but also about the future of the common people and the environment there. Now the big challenge for Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his government is how they satisfy the court and what concrete steps they take to rein in the mining mafia. Usually, in big cases, files keep roaming here and there, but this time seeing the ‘tough attitude’ of the High Court, it seems that the careless officers will definitely be punished.
Now all eyes are on the response of the state government. Will illegal mining really stop now? Or will the matter be pacified as usual by taking action against some small people? At present, the strictness of the High Court has definitely created a stir in the corridors of power.
