Nowadays in Uttar Pradesh, the net of new expressway is being laid all around. Somewhere work is going on fast, then new roads are being planned. In this episode, there is an expressway connecting UP and Delhi which is now going to set a new example in the country. We are talking about the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME), which is going to be the first such highway in India soon where you will not have to get toll tax in long lines or stop the car! Why is Delhi-Meerut Expressway special?

• 14 lane wide route: This expressway from Delhi to Meerut has been built in total 14 lanes. Out of this, 6 lanes are straightforward, long distance travel vehicles, so that they can walk at a high speed without any interruption. The remaining 8 lanes are for nearby cities or local traffic.

• Heavy savings of time: Remember the day when it took 3 to 4 hours to reach Meerut from Delhi? In the year 2006, this expressway was approved and it was ready in 2021. Now due to this magnificent expressway, this distance is covered in just 45 minutes!

• Where from where to: The expressway starts near Nizamuddin in Delhi and goes directly to Meerut. Not only this, you can easily catch the journey of Haridwar and Dehradun ahead of this expressway.

• Without signal, without interruption: Another special thing about this expressway is that there is no traffic signal anywhere, due to which the journey becomes even more smooth. Beauty has also been taken care of-green vertical gardens have been built on both sides of the expressway, which also gives a glimpse of national monuments like Qutub Minar and Ashoka Pillar.

• modern conveniences: The entire road is illuminated by solar energy lights. Emergency call booths have been installed every short distance for emergency. As soon as the message to the control room gets the help, help will reach you within 10 minutes.

Now the biggest news: country’s first advance toll system!

This is the thing that makes the Delhi-Meerut Expressway different. Now the country’s newest and advance toll collection system is being installed here. The name of this system is ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition),

How will this new system work?

1. No toll barrier: Now there will be no longer barriers on the toll plaza where you have to stop.

2. Smart cameras: Special high-resolution cameras will be installed on both sides of the toll point.

3. Number plate scan: As soon as your car passes, these cameras will immediately read (scan) your car number plate.

4. Automatic toll cuts: Based on the information received from the camera, the toll amount will be cut directly from your fastag account.

Meaning, now the hassle of staying at the toll plaza, looking for cash or waiting for a fastag scan is over! Just keep walking, the toll will be cut automatically.

When will this system start?

This new ANPR system is going to start soon on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. After it succeeds, there is a plan to gradually put it on the rest of the country’s toll plaza. So get ready, toll travel experience in India is going to change forever!
