The Indian Premier League is not taking the name of the Chennai Super Kings defeat in 2025. The team once again played against Kolkata Knight Riders under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dhoni has further recorded his record as the oldest captain in the history of the league. He has become the first player to captain the team after the age of 42 years. Dhoni, Gilchrist and Shane Warne have captained IPL teams after the age of 41, while Rahul Dravid also captained a team at the age of 40.
Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the history of IPL. Together with Rohit Sharma, he has won the title most often for the team. CSK has won the title in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023. In the history of IPL, no player has captained more matches than Dhoni nor has anyone won more matches than them. He has brought the team on the file many times.
