New Delhi: India’s largest IT service company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has not yet taken any decision on the increment of its employees this year. The company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer Milind Lakkad gave this information.

He revealed this at a press conference after the TCS announced the results of the first quarter of the financial year 2025-26 on July 11.

Delay in increment:

TCS usually starts its annual increment from April. But this year there has been a delay in deciding this. Responding to the concerns of the employees, Lakkad said, “We have not taken any decision on it yet. We will take a decision within a year and inform you as soon as the decision is taken.”

Recruitment and employment scheme

Lakkad confirmed that TCS would accept all the job proposals issued last year. However, new appointments will depend on the company’s commercial status. Last year, the company had a challenge to appoint 42,000 engineering graduates due to dull market situations. TCS has targeted to appoint around 40,000 engineering graduates in FY 2025-26. However, this target may change on the basis of commercial performance in the coming months.

Strong financial performance

Despite uncertainty over the salary hike, TCS has released concrete financial results in the first quarter of 2025–26. The net profit of the company increased by 6 percent to Rs 12,760 crore as compared to the same period last year. The total revenue increased by 1.3 percent to Rs 63,437 crore. However, revenue fell by 3 percent in stable posture. During the April-June period, the company’s operational profit margin increased by 0.3 percent to 24.5 percent.

Increase in number of employees

By the end of the quarter, the total number of TCS employees increased to 6,13,069, which is an increase of over 6,000 employees as compared to the previous year. Although these results reflect the company’s financial stability, TCS has advised employees to wait for the decision on salary hike.
