Digital Asset Records: Government proposed new online property registration bill, digital records will be compulsory

News India Live, Digital Desk: The central government is going to bring a law that will make the property registration process online. This law is 117 years old. The proposed new law aims to change the Old Registration Act of 1908. Its purpose is to make all the records related to the property online.

The new Bill aims to make online registration compulsory for documents like “Agreement for Sale”, “Power of Attorney”, “Equitable Morgy Arrangement” and “Sales Certificate”. Under the Union Ministry of Rural Development, the Land Resources Department has drafted the proposed bill and made it public to seek suggestions from the general public. One of the several reasons for proposing the bill may also be that many states have tried to change their property registration processes in the past. Although this law applies to the whole country, the state governments can make changes with the central government. The Department of Land Resources says that in the last few years, in view of the increasing use of technology, socio-economic changes and increasing needs of registered documents, now there is a need to create a system that keeps the future needs in mind.

If this bill is passed, then all the records of the property and various other documents related to it will be registered online. With this, the common people will not have to take paper documents for government work along. Digital records will be kept for future references.

Another major change from this will be that the process of presenting and accepting online documents will also become digital. Aadhaar card will be used to verify the identity, but it will be with your consent. If a person does not want to share the base, then other methods are kept for him so that the identity can be verified.

The additional advantage of the proposed new system will be that it will be linked to other government records, such as land records, municipal data etc. This will make the exchange of information faster and more accurate.
