Day 1: Dhanteras (Saturday, October 18, 2025)

• Why is it special: Diwali officially starts from here. This is the most auspicious day of the year when any new thing is purchased in the house, like gold-silver, utensils, or any electronic item. It is believed that purchases made on this day bring blessings and prosperity to the house throughout the year.

Day 2: Yama Deepam/Chhoti Diwali Evening (Sunday, 19 October 2025)

• Why is it special: This day is considered dedicated to Yamraj, the god of death. In the evening, a lamp (Yama ka Diya) is lit outside the main door of the house towards the south to wish for the long and healthy life of the family members.

Day 3: Narak Chaturdashi/Chhoti Diwali (Monday, 20 October 2025)

• Why is it special: It is celebrated just a day before Diwali. It is believed that on this day Lord Krishna had killed the demon Narakasura. On this day, there is a tradition of applying ubtan on the body and taking bath early in the morning, which is a symbol of beauty and health.

Fourth day: Diwali and Lakshmi Puja (Tuesday, 21 October 2025)

• Why is it special: This is the heart of this whole celebration! The light of lamps all around, the sweetness of sweets and the noise of firecrackers… this day symbolizes the joy of Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. In the evening, in auspicious time, Goddess of wealth and prosperity Maa Lakshmi and god of wisdom Lord Ganesha Is worshipped.

Fifth day… (Bhai Dooj and Govardhan Puja)
