Double attack of fog and mist! Flights-trains delayed in Patna, passengers worried

Posts

Patna: The first fog and smog of the season put brakes on the pace of Patna on Monday. Flight services at the capital’s Jaiprakash Narayan International Airport were severely affected due to low visibility in the morning, due to which 7 pairs i.e. 14 flights either took off late or arrived late.

Its biggest impact was seen on the busiest routes like Delhi and Mumbai. Indigo’s flight to Delhi was delayed by almost two hours, while Air India’s flight coming from Mumbai also landed at Patna airport late by one and a half hour.

Why did the situation worsen at the airport?

According to airport officials, due to the sudden increase in humidity in the weather, a thick layer of smog had formed in the air. Because of this, planes had to wait for the runway to be cleared for landing and take-off, which upset the entire schedule.

Although the airlines claim that they had already informed the passengers about the delay through SMS and email, despite this many passengers were seen upset at the airport. Some even took to social media to advise airlines to improve their on-time performance. Officials have advised passengers to check the status of their flights before leaving home.

There was a brake on the speed of trains, Pooja specials got delayed by 11 hours

The effect of fog was seen not only on air traffic but also on rail traffic. Many important trains passing through Danapur railway division were delayed by hours, due to which there was an atmosphere of chaos throughout the day at Patna Junction and other stations.

  • Most impact on Pooja special: Puja special trains worsened the condition of passengers the most. Udhna-Jayanagar Puja Special So 11 hours It was running with huge delay. There itself, Barauni-Udhana Puja Special 9 Hours And Anand Vihar-Bhagalpur Puja Special About 4.30 hours Was lying down.
  • Express and Vande Bharat also late: Even premium trains could not escape the effects of fog. Howrah Vande Bharat Express 1.55 hrs opened from Patna with a delay of Rs. Shramjeevi Superfast About 2.40 minutes Was lying down.

Railway officials have attributed the delay in trains to technical reasons and increased traffic load on the track.
