News India Live, Digital Desk: Education Minister Kerala: A worrying report has come out about the school infrastructure in Kerala, which has shocked everyone. According to a report presented in the assembly, a total of 1157 schools in the state have been found to be completely ‘unsafe’ for running classes of children. Most of these government schools are included. This news has come when the Kerala government has been constantly claiming to improve the infrastructure of schools.
This report by the Local Self -Governance Department (LSGD) states that out of 1157 unsafe schools, there are 875 government schools, 262 -aided schools and 20 private schools whose buildings are not safe for children. These figures question the rules under which schools need to get fitness certificate from local authorities before the start of academic session every year.
If you look at the district-wise in the state, Kollam has the highest number of buildings of 143 schools in Kollam. After this, 134 schools in Alappuzha and 120 in Thiruvananthapuram are not able to hold classes. Taking the issue seriously, General Education Minister V. Shivnakutty said that new school buildings are being constructed through KIIFB (Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board) projects and other funds, and separate funds are also being allocated for maintenance.
This report shows that Kerala needs rapid repair and safety measures to ensure a safe education environment for thousands of students.
