News India Live, Digital Desk: Education Ministry: The National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has introduced a big change in the field of education and introduced a new English textbook for the eighth grade. This new book called ‘Poorvi’, will replace an English book called ‘HoneyDew’, which is being studied earlier. The most important aspect of this change is that now students will be able to get acquainted with Indian personalities, their stories and ideas while learning English. This initiative is in line with the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), which aims to connect education with more Indian environment and cultural references. The word ‘Purvai’ itself is associated with Indian culture, which is a symbol of ‘East’ direction or ‘India’. Through this book, stories and lives of great heroes of various fields including Indian traditions, ideas, and freedom struggle have been included. The main objective of this step is not only to develop students’ understanding of English language, but also to connect them with their rich heritage and glorious history of the country. This textbook will play an important role in introducing students to their roots and making them proud of their country. These changes made on the instructions of the Ministry of Education are an important step towards making Indian education more relevant and inclusive. It is expected that ‘Eastern’ will not only be a study material for students, but will also make them inspiration from the great cultural and historical stories of India, so that they can become responsible citizens of the country in the future.
