In Punjab, Bhagwant Maan Sarkar presented a budget of Rs 2.36 lakh crore on Wednesday. In this budget, many important announcements were made from infrastructure improvements of villages to urban development, but there was no talk on the election promise of giving Rs 1000 to women every month.
Suspense still on women’s promise
The Aam Aadmi Party had promised in the 2022 assembly elections that women of Punjab would be given Rs 1000 every month, but despite three years, no concrete steps were taken on it. There was no announcement about this scheme in this budget, so that women will have to wait again.
Big budget announcements

No new tax was imposed – Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema made it clear that the burden of new taxes will not be put on the public in this budget.

Strictness on drugs smuggling – ‘One war drug abuse’ campaign will be launched, which will take strict steps against drug addiction in the state.

Government’s big focus on electricity subsidy
The state government has allocated Rs 25,000 crore for electricity subsidy this year, in which –

For farmers – Rs 14,524 crore

For domestic consumers – Rs 7,614 crore

For industrial consumers – Rs 3,426 crore
Last year, this amount was Rs 21,910 crore, that is, this year has increased by Rs 3654 crore.
Why are women not getting 1000 rupees?
According to political analysts, women are already spending heavy on schemes like exemption in electricity bills and free travel for women in buses. For this reason, it is proving to be difficult for the AAP government to fulfill the promise giving Rs 1000 to women.
Will the government fulfill this promise in the coming time or will it remain only an election announcement? This will be a matter of view.
